Profile & Presentation

Protais Ayangma Amang‘s testimony will focus on the interest of a Pan-African Project Management Professional Organization in the light of his experience at the FANAF in the area of insurance industry.

Protais Ayangma Amang is an insurance expert, an entrepreneur, a business manager and leader of the Cameroonian and African private sector. He is currently the Chairman of Entreprises du Cameroun (E.CAM) which is an employers’ organization since 2011. He is equally the Chairperson of the Executive Bureau of the Douala Development Agency since 2002. Furthermore, he is the Deputy-Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Craft of Cameroon (CCIMA) since 2016 and has been Chairperson of the Service Delivery Section from 2009 to 2016. In addition, Mr. Ayangma is the Chairman of the Board of the South Media Corporation, editor of the newspaper Mutations, which is a daily independent newspaper in Cameroon since 1996. He shoulders many other responsibilities among which: (i) Chairperson of the Business Community Coalition against AIDS (CCA-SIDA); (ii) Board Member of the National Social Insurance Fund (CNPS) and Chairperson of the Investment Committee; (iii) Board Member of the Agency for the Promotion of SMEs (APME).

Protais Ayangma Amang has a degree in Law and Economics, Corporate Management option from the University of Yaounde since 1974. He has the following professional background in the field of insurance : Head of the Natural Disasters and Disputed Claims Department of the Cameroonian Company of Insurance and Reinsurance (SOCAR) in Douala from 1974 to 1979 ;  General Manager of Soraraf-Cameroun (Insurance Broker) in Douala from 1979 to 1986;  Founder and Director & General Manager of SAHAM Assurance ex Colina Cameroon, ex La Citoyenne Assurance, ex Compagnie Nationale d’Assurances from 1986 to 2016. In the insurance sector development, he has been: (i) Chairman of the ASAC National Arbitration Commission (Insurance Companies Association of Cameroon) from 2000 to 2016, (ii) Chairman of ASAC (Insurance Companies Association of Cameroon) and distinctively (iii) Chairman of the Federation of African National Law Insurance Companies (FANAF) from 2008 to 2014.

During his long and rich professional career he has also been  (i) Chairman of Board of Directors of PRO-PME Financement S.A from 2000 to 2012; (ii) Deputy-Chairman of Groupement Inter-Patronal du Cameroun (GICAM) from 1994 to 2008 and Chairman of the Social Commission from 1994 to 2008; (iii) Governor of the 9150 District of Rotary International from 2000 to 2001; (iv) Board Member of the National Employment Fund (FNE); (v) Board Member and Board Audit Committee of BAT Cameroon (British American Tobacco) from 2002 to 2012 and Board Member and Chairman of Audit Committee of DIAGEO Cameroon ( GUINNESS) from 2008 to 2011.

Protais Ayangma Amang is a Cameroonian, born on November 6, 1951 in Yaounde, Widower and father of six children. He has received silver, vermeil and gold achievement medals. He is Knight of the Order of Valor of the Republic of Cameroon. He is also received the Distinction of Officer and Commande.
